Big Sing

Get your instruments ready! A Big Sing service centers around praying through song: hymns, spirituals, or praise songs. Songs may be connected with Scripture readings, liturgical readings, or prayer.
Structure

The structure of a Big Sing may vary depending on the focus of the service. But you will want to shape the service so that the congregation is taken on a journey. Don't just string together your favorite songs -- help the congregation to see why each song leads to the next.

Even so, you will likely include these elements:

  • Invitation: The people of God are invited to encounter the Trinity by both word and symbol.

  • Singing: Songs of praise, lament, petition, testimony, or commitment

  • Reading: Reading of Psalms or other appropriate passages

  • Sending: Send the people of God out with benediction.
