Chapel at Western Theological Seminary

Templates

Worship is best led neither by paper nor by presentations, but by people. Even so, you may very well want to prepare a printed paper bulletin or a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation for the congregation as a gesture of hospitality for the worshipping community. You may also want to prepare a printed  "Roadmap" for musicians, tech hosts, and other worship leaders. To aid in this task, we have produced a number of templates you can use and adapt for your own purposes.

You can find the templates for Ordinary Time (September-November) at this googledrive link.

You can find the templates for Advent at this googledrive link.

You can find the templates for the Epiphany Season at this googledrive link. (You may also draw on the Ordinary Time templates from the previous fall if you wish.)

You can find the templates for the Lenten season at this googledrive link.

You can find the templates for the Easter season at this googledrive link.

Templates for communion (typically a starting point for faculty and chapel stewards) can be found HERE.

DesignThese templates are designed to be artistically interesting, liturgically fitting, and easily legible for worshippers and worship leaders. They also follow best practices with regard to accessibility, typeface, and color, etc. You are encouraged to use and modify them, in consultation with your Chapel Steward.

ContentThese templates follow the basic patterns for services of Proclamation and Prayer as described elsewhere on this site. Some of our community's favorite songs are included. But these templates are intended to be modified for whatever type of service you are planning. They are NOT a strait-jacket, limiting what you are able to prepare for worship; instead, they provide the tools for you own creative adaptation. Think of them like some pre-built Lego sets. You can play with them as they are, or you take the bricks apart and make your own service.

To be clear about terminology:

- Template is either a .PPT or Keynote or MSWord document that the congregation might use.

- Roadmap is a .DOCX for worship leaders (musicians, tech hosts, etc.) that has additional information, like a chord chart or notes for a prayer or rubrics for liturgical movement.
